Huskies are an active breed...
...and because of this, they keep us active!
Diane has been mushing since winter 2010-2011, and Amelia took up skijoring in 2011-2012. Before that, we both enjoyed biking with the dogs. All of our working activity with huskies was done purely for fun and without any real lead dog or proper training. We would just hook them up and go. We also love to take our dogs around to pet stores, dog parks, friends' houses, and on our many road trips. Once we began mushing, our lifestyles changed drastically.
Besides mushing, the dogs keep us very active. We spend a lot of time with each individual dog and also the teams as a group. They get daily play time and plenty of love and affection, and we love to take them to all sorts of places if we are able to. We want our dogs to be social, active, and happy animals, and in order to keep a husky happy, they need a job and a lot of attention.
